Technology and Patience

They pretty much go together like oil and water. Technology is moving at the speed of light, yet we are expected to be patient to learn it, and more importantly, to teach it.
I am fortunate. I started using (desktop) computers in the late 80s when programs like QuarkXpress and Freehand just became available for page layout and graphics design, respectively. My continued use of such applications and the transition to more robust, task-specific programs have kept my computer knowledge on a steady upward trajectory.
Today, the use of mobile devices has made being without a computer almost unheard of, regardless if your 10 or 90 years old. My dad got into computer technology early on for his generation. He had a first-generation Mac (before I did!) and was quick to get a smartphone and tablet. My mom's introduction was due more to necessity than to desire. But today, at 90+ years old, she is doing remarkably well with her iPhone and iPad.
Technology moves faster than most could imagine; AI affects us daily without our even realizing it, and I continue to exercise the largest muscle in my body—patience—as I take regular tech support calls from family, friends, and business associates to make their journey a bit less frustrating.
